used Oceanic Alpha7

I have a friend that just updated his regulator setup and is wanting to sell me his used setup. It's an Oceanic Alpha 7 w/ a slimline Octo, STD console and a Prodigy computer for $275. All have been regularly serviced by the LDS and work well.

I'm a new diver and am looking for experienced opinions. Buy or Pass?

That's a bit spendy......he should be very happy to get $200.

Good gear, but somewhat high in price.

I've never heard of the Prodigy computer. (Older model computers don't have much resale value.) The rest of the gear is real good equipment. We are a diving family an use those.

About two years ago, I sold a used Alpha 7 on eBay and got about $80. The octos sell used for about $40. The new Alpha 8 is about $150 when it is on sale from Leisure Pro.

$200 seems reasonable. Have fun with whatever you get.

Thanks for the feedback! I also talked to the LDS that services it - and they didn't think I could go wrong with an Alpha 7.

So I picked it up! Can't wait to get it wet!
