I've been contemplating getting a video housing and HD camera. Currently I've been making movies with my point and shoot, editing etc but would like to move up before my next trip to Palau in April.

Through searching here and wetpixel, I've found a lot of good info on the camera and housing and that I could get into an Ikelite 6090 for a pretty reasonable rate. I've found several deals on lightly used Canon HF100's and HF10's, which model I'm not partial to either.

I was wondering people's thoughts on buying a used camera that may be a couple years old? How long do they typically last if cared for well? Will I out grow the functionality and then have to upgrade both the camera and housing? Has technology advanced so much that I shouldn't be looking at a camera that's two plus years old?

What I'd like are: manual white balance, small, wide angle lens, ability for macro, not gonna break the bank.

It seems I can get this in the Canon HF100, Ikelite 6090, and add the Raynox Internal lens with flat port. Priced out it seems I can get it for around $1000.

Thanks!
