Giffenk - if you are so anti upgraditis, how come you have a load of second-hand gear to sell! I tend to talk in terms of being careful in my use of money (working class background) and have suggested new UW photographers buy a cheap set up to start off with but I still have breakout moments of excess card use.
Bad ebay habit?

I agree that most people are best starting out with an inexpensive "throw away starter kit". Many will discover that it works just fine for them.

I started with a S&S DX1G (rich gx100), bought a spare housing, then a spare body, then a spare strobe. Then tried a few NOS Aquatica Nokonos trays. I still have all of this stuff...

I am now on my second camera: Canon G16 with a meikon housing and a subsee wetlens. Still using my old strobes arms and tray.

Giffenk: I loaned an earlier version of one of those when I had a flash problem with my film setup 15-18 years ago. We went out to the Coral Sea and I managed to flood the flash in 30m. When I got back the shop told me I should have stayed under 25m.

How do you find the Meikon housing? Sorry about changing the direction of the thread.

The meikon housing is okay. I choose it because it was cheap since I drilled a hole in it and mounted a nikonos style hotshoe bulkhead. Did not want to use an expensive housing as a test since there was a chance I would screw up.

1 technical issue with the housing: no controls for the front and back wheels (shutter and aperture). So I need to press 2 buttons to change these. But I rarely do, instead I change my strobe power.

The other nag is that the shutter control is a little sloppy and it is difficult to feel the half press point.
