So OSU at one time apparently had an underwater scuba hockey team (they don't anymore or I'd join), but anyways I am the vice-president of our scuba club here and am looking for something to do in the pool for our certified divers. Do you guys know of any organized team games or somethign that would be fun? or anything at all that you enjoy doing in a a confined water expierence remebering that diving skill levels vary in the group, and a lot of kids don't really have fun working boyeancy, and OOG drills.

I know it was there when I worked at Larkins back in '92-'93 and it was a great time. Let me know if you get something going again. It's not that bad a drive on occasion for some good fun with fellow Buckeyes :beerchug:

Underwater hockey??? I'd like to see some video of that.

Sounds like we need to develop an UW slingshot for the UW rockets so we can have a somewhat UW Polo team or something to that effect.

Playing underwater hockey while on scuba is one of the more unsafe activities I've ever done. I don't recommend it. We've had folks burn through Al80's in fifteen minutes at a piddly 10 feet depth. People get tangled up in one another's hoses, get their masks knocked off, lose control of their buoyancy, and other fun stuff. I'm surprised I haven't seen anybody embolize in the few "games" I've participated in.

Our own university scuba classes play with underwater pool toys when they're bored. We have frisbees and torpedoes (toypedoes). You can pick up some of this stuff online.

Thoughts to avoid those problems:
Maybe a larger pool, less people and rules like ultimate frisbee where the focus is on passing.

I bet if conducted properly it would be fun!

i agree. ultimate frisbee with a toypedo would be a blast!

Our diving pool's 25x18m and 6m deep, and our team's are regulation-size (or less) for underwater hockey. Which isn't very many divers.

An underwater hockey puck can typically only be knocked a few feet horizontally, so extreme close quarters between fellow divers is par the course. A routine "pass-off" of the puck to a fellow teammate requires people to be within 2m (often less) of one another. That's knife fighting range!
