hi guys
does anyone have any experience diving with a metal detector. i have been keen to try one for a while, but at around a thousand pounds its an expensive toy if it don't work.

Metal detectors do work and can be a lot of fun.

You really want to have your diving down so that you can concentrate on the search and it helps if you have some experience detecting on land.

The main key to success is to look where things have been lost. The people who are finding the most good stuff spend lots of time searching and even more time doing research to find the best places to search.

A good site for information (and equipment, but in the USA) is KellyCo;

Perhaps I can answer a few of your questions as I own several brands of underwater metal detectors and use them almost every weekend. PM with your questions. :05:

there seems to be little choice as the only detector i can find worth a damn seems to be the excalibur from minilab. unless of course you know different. i was primarily looking at taking the unit down on wrecks, do they suffer interference from all that old steel.
