Hey there, Guys, This is the first time I've ever used scuba board :)

Im soon going to be purchasing the Canon 7D, Now although this is a huge upgrade for me I need a new housing, I've been looking at the Nauticam 7D, BUT.. I live in Mallorca.. yes the small Island and Im finding it rather difficult to get it here and even online, Does anyone know exactly where I can purchase it without a bunch of import fees, and outrageous shipping fees???

If not, Can you recommend any other housings for the 7D, Your answers would be much appreciated, Thanks

I don't think Gates or Light and Motion make a housing for the 7D.

I've used both a Hugyfot and Ikelite housing for the 7D. The Hugyfot is very nice and apart from a couple of really annoying issues it is a far superior housing than the Ikelite. However the Ikelite is probably 1/3 of the price so its not like comparing apples with apples!

Nauticam I have never used, but I have to admit that I'm not convinced with the 'love in' that many seem to have developed with that manufacturer. When I hear about rusty parts after only light use and design flaws leading to housing floods it does make you want to ask questions... Like I said though I have not personally used a Nauticam so this is merely second hand info.

I really wish a video housing manufacturer would start to make housings for the HDSLR's. I think we'd see a big improvement if they did, but maybe HDSLR's solely for video use is not a big enough market for them to dip their toes in just yet.

Hope this helps, Simon

My husband has the Sea & Sea housing for his Canon Xsi/450D camera and absolutely loves it. It isn't small, just like all of these Dslr camera housings, in fact we call it the Death Star.

you can see it underwater in my videos from the past 2+ years.

The build-quality and the ergonomics of the Sea & Sea canon 7d housing is top-notch, imho. The recsea canon 7d is the lightest and smallest on the market by quite a bit, I believe. You can't beat the value of the Ikelite housing, but it's quite big and heavy.

I use the ike housing for the 7d myself. One of my frequent dive buddies uses the nauticam while another uses the sea & sea. I've swapped to try both, and while the Nauti and Sea and more refined/compact, for me it doesn't balance out the price difference. I have since purchased 2 more Ikes for other rigs.

Canon or nikon, they are the best in my opinion. But I'd prefer Canon, that's what I have. It's easier to use. As for the housing over the camera for underwater shootings I suggest buying a NIMAR housing. It's very durable. I've dropped mine a few dozen times :/ shh. I been in over 25 dives going under 100ft and my housing has never flooded. It's awesome. You can check out on youtube people who have used it. Like, Pipin he's a famous diver and only uses nimar housings. That has to mean something.
