Anybody have any tips on a good place to rent an underwater camera on Cozumel?

The best place I know of is Island Photo. It's located in front of ElCid/LaCeiba Hotel about 2 miles south of the Plaza. Holly and Armando Alentado are both excellent photographers and instructors. Armando is an Anuthorized Sea & Sea repair tech and dealer, so even if aomeone isn't renting they are an excellent resource.

Tell them Davida said hello!

Their website....Island Photo

I second thes suggestion for Island Photo. They are great people. They have digital as well. Rented the S&S DX3000 in May. Nice rig but you should really get the strobe. I did not and regreted it. Holly will download the picts on here laptop and give you a disc for transfer if you go that route.

This is a pretty old thread. Is there any place currently open that rents underwater photo and video equipment?

I think Armando still rents equipment? I know Island Photo is no longer in front of La Ceiba, but I have heard he is doing business from home. Other than that, I havent seen any places on the island that rent video or digital systems other than the little point and shoot. Im surprised no one has jumped on that and opened up a small digital shop? Maybe cost and politics? If I was still there I would have rented you out a full Aquatica system. Good luck.

if your looking for recent info then start a new thread and ask:D

Holly and Armando no longer have a store front at El Cid La Cieba, instead he is working out of his house there on the island.

I saw him in April and he said the best way to contact him was through e-mail:
photocozumel@ecozumel.net

Rented from Armando last week. Contact him and he'll meet you at your door with the camera and then burn you a CD/DVD when he picks the camera up.
Plus he'll have some good stories to tell you about current events.
