Is there much of a difference between the Actionwear Professional (2 piece) and the Polartec Powerstretch Pro? I see they are both rated for the same temp ranges. Is this more just a personal preference type thing or is there any real difference (one better than the other) between the two?

Hi al248005,

The temperature rating is the same. The garments are quite different. We have a video up on 'What to expect at a DUI Demo Tour - Station 4'. The video is a bit long but Faith Ortins goes through the insulation choices and covers the two garments. It's available at DOGTV - DUI Demo Tour Station 4 video. Learn about DUI Drysuit Insulation DiveWear options

ActionWear Pro is a two piece garment. This allows divers the option of purchasing a mis-matched set. For example a medium bottom and xlarge top. It is also designed with a more sporty, street style. So you could put it on in the morning at home and wear it to the dive shop and head out to the dive site. You could wear it for other sports. Because it is two piece you have some material that overlap. Additional material means additional bulk which also means additional 'lead' needed for diving. The material itself stretches in one direction. Since it is a two piece garment this is not a drawback for this design.

The Polartec PowerStretch Pro is designed with high performance material. It offers stretch it both directions. This means it has greater freedom of movement. Have you ever tried on a t-shirt and noticed it just didn't stretch the way it should? Well with two way stretch you get that freedom of movement we divers love to have. This also allows the garment to fit close and this means the least amount of material is needed. Which for us divers equals less 'lead' for diving. Which can be critical for some people trying to reduce the amount of weight needed for diving.

The two garments 'feel' quite different. If you have the option of heading out to a DUI Demo Tour we have both these garments available to test dive. You can find information on locations at DUI Demo Tour - test dive a DUI drysuit at one of our 2012 Events . Last weekend was our event in Gilboa.

I hope this helps answer your question.

Have a great day -

Kathy
