I could not believe my eyes, ears, fellow human beings when I saw this on the news today. Personally I would not even stop to think to help someone, I cannot believe that many many drivers not only ignored this woman, but swerved to avoid her!! :06:
I'd really love to know what you guys from other countries/cultures think to this? I am ashamed to be British at times (BNP, football hooligans etc), but this is the lowest of the low.
Will you be as shocked as I was.

Unfortunately it's not limited just to the UK, nor is it a recent trend.

There was an infamous incident in New York City from the 1970's (or maybe the 1960's) where a woman was stabbed to death in front of her own apartment. When the NYPD questioned the neighbors, they found out that many of them heard the screams and some even saw the attack take place, but none bothered to act or even call the police, with the exception of ONE person who did phone (and this was in the pre-911 days).

Unfortunately we live in a paranoid society.

I just cannot understand how someone could just walk on by? i know people are very paranoid these days, but this woman was unconscious, its not like she was going to rob them or anything, it just beggars belief, and makes me feel sad. Sad for the woman, just imagine being badly injured and not one person helping you, its just too awful to think about really.

This is absolutely shocking. I wonder what goes through the mind of someone who sees something like this and does nothing....It must be so hard to go through life with something holding you back from your basic humanity.

I'm sure it isn't just a British thing. Sadly a lot of countries/societies are afflicted with this disease.

Get a job in law enforcement and you will quickly understand just how an otherwise "respectable" person can be so heartless.

For many other reasons unrelated to this thread, I would not ever take that kind of job, but thank wholeheartedly those who do.

This makes me absolutely sick. I really can't believe that this would happen in Britain, my home country. The most disconserting aspect is that if I needed help from my fellow man would I get it? Apparently not.
