My son and I would like to make a trip to dive the U352 and some other interesting sites next year. I live in central Florida and he lives near Richmond VA. Would be very appreciative of any and all advice regarding this trip such as best time of year, dive operators, places to stay etc. Saw a post from long ago by "Zerogravity" talking about a video of the interior of the U352 which no doubt is inacessable these days, woould be very interested in seeing that.

Have met a few of your bunch while diving up at Lake Rawlings last year, looking forward to hearing from you - and if needing any info on our area would be pleased to hear from you also.

Thanks!:usa:

The interior is accessable, but not advised. The silt, lionfish, and other factors combine to make for a high risk environment. Another operator is Atlantic Beach and Morehead City , North Carolina Wreck Diving and Dive Charters to the NC Shipwrecks. They operate out of Morehead. The best time to go is early summer, as there is less risk of a 'blowout' from a hurricaine. vis ranges from 50 to 200 ft. If you haven't seen a sub, this is a good one, as it is mainly exposed- the 701 and 1105 are mainly buried, the 85 is in mainly cold water, as are the others further north. I think more interesting dives there would include the Schurz, Naeco, the wreck formerly known as the Papoose, and the Caribe Sea. Hope this helps.

usa:

Olympus sells a DVD that they produced that includes a tour of the interior. I think it is about $19.95. There is also an episode of Deep Sea Detectives that dives and penetrates the 352. It is available from the History Channel.

Have made three trips to the 352 this year, June, August, November, the June trip had the best viz of the three.

Hope this helps.:14:
