Has anyone come up with their own hand signals? I dive with my sister, my brother in law and my boyfriend, and we have come up with some hand signals of our own!
My sister's favorite is to point at some creature, then put her hands out to the side and shrug her shoulders - it means she wants me to tell her what it is (on my dorky wrist slate).
We've also come up with signals for "take a picture" - you just hold up an imaginary camera, then point to the thingy you want them to take a picture of.
If we see something we think is kinda freaky we will point to the freaky object then make "biting" motions with our hands.

I am also guilty of coming up with my own sign for "my goodie bag is too heavy - will you carry it for me?".

Pathetic, eh?

This one was reserved for when you're buddy has screwed up, gotten too far away and needs to be told so!

Make the circular Ok signal with left hand ,(like using a mitten not a glove just like grasping around a pipe) with your right hand make the pointing index finger gesture , curing the finger into a hook to beckon "come here"!

Hold the two hands up side by side , while looking at the intended reciever.

The meaning is simple :
"COME HERE A$$HOLE!"

A buddy of mine and I use a lot of the handsignals that we learned in the Navy. We both had worked on the filght deck of aircraft carriers so up there or down under you couldn't hear either place. We did have to modify a couple tho.

Thanks for the links... some very useful information.
