How much does it cost? 80+ miles is a long ways to take a boat ride. Why not choose LC as it is 5 miles closer to GC than the Brac? Are you sure Craig wasn't just kidding?
At 20 miles an hour that would be 4 hours one way.

I'm very sure he wasn't kidding. The boat is a rocket on water - he says he can cross in 2.5 hours if the sea is calm. More likely, it will take 4.5 to 5 hours. How much does it cost? "Lots", by my pocketbook. YMMV. I don't want to quote actual prices as I believe they are somewhat negotiable. It would probably be a fun venture if you want to spend the money.

But when is it really calm...the hot summer months? So when would be a good time to chance it, say June or July? What would that cost really be for a trip to LC, $100 each (fuel only), or $200?

Right now, in fact, would work fine. As I look out my window I see a sea like glass. However, the trip is for a weekend and includes overnight accomodation and several dives. So, the cost pp is a lot more than $200. If you're interested, phone InDepth WaterSports.

I just returned from the DAN hyperbaric & dive medicine course on Little Cayman Island. We did a trip over to the Tibbets on Cayman Brac with the dive operator Reef Divers at Little Cayman Beach Resort. The trip took about an hour each way, and a single-tank wreck dive was $60. As stated above, there is a minimum number of divers required for such a trip.

Rhone Man,

I have been to Little Cayman Beach Resort twice. They do make a run over to Cayman Brac to dive the Keith Tibbits, once per week depending on the signups and weather. I go in the slow season. The first time I was there, they had a boat go over, the last time I was there, it did not go (I forget if it was the chop or lack of enough interest).

So, it is a possible "bonus" for going to LCBR but it is not a "sure thing". I would think that if you go in the high season, it would be more likely to go.
