I don't ever plan on finding a body underwater... how in the heck did they figure it was only a matter of time? Where they scuba diving at an old mafia dump site or something?

Maybe they've never watched CSI, or cold case, or bones, or NYPD Blue, or numb3rs, or the sheild, or law & order, or miami vice, or monk, or navy NCIS or pacific blue, or third watch, or without a trace, or some other random cop show that's constantly on TV... so they didn't know they were tampering with evidence.

plot-I hope you didnt think before you posted that and dont really get your knowledge of LE procedures and techniques from made up TV shows?

Just making the point that they should've known better regardless... or possibly I was making the point that there are to many cop shows on tv... or possibly I was making both points. It's all very open to interpretation.
