LIVE FROM EASTER ISLAND!!!! . . . and more
(please scroll down for details)

Where it has been POURING rain for the last half hour causing a 15-minute total power outage (and it's REALLY dark here) . . .

EASTER ISLAND REPORT - At least it's 9PM here and everyone's tucked in after the long journey getting here. We started at LAX on Saturday, getting there round Noon for our 3PM flight to Santiago. Some of us slept on the 11-hour flight, arriving at 6:30AM Santiago time (1:30AM body time). Then you have to navigate your way through Immigration, Baggage Claim, Customs, Baggage re-check where you have to show proof of a hotel on Easter Island, walk to the domestic terminal (10 minutes), find the Easter Island dedicated line, go through ANOTHER Easter Island Immigration check, and the board the plane for the 5-hour ride to finally get here. Weather was great up until the rain and we got to do some wandering around today. Very windy though and lots of white caps. Tomorrow (Monday) is a dive/tour day and the diving is iffy if this wind keeps up. We shall see. Here's a trio of quick shots from today: The Moai at Tahai, turtle in the harbor, and a very relaxed dog at an ice cream shop.

REEF SEEKERS CHAMBER EVE TABLE REMINDER - It's already half-full, which means we have five seats left. Chamber Evening is festive affair. A lot of you dress up, it’s great to gather with all of you each year, and it seems like everyone has a lot of fun. And we’re delighted to again be able to do all of this in the Great Hall at Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Inflation has caught up with us and this year will see a price increase to $175/seat. You’ll have a chance to wander around and explore the Aquarium from 7-8PM, you’ll enjoy a fabulous feast that will start a little after 8PM (the menu is still being decided but there will be a veggie/vegan option), we’ll go into our program of raffle prizes and recognitions a little after 9PM, and we’ll send you home around 10:15PM. And would anyone like to win a week of diving Indonesia with Murex Dive Resorts? Our Grand Prize this year is their 9-day “Passport to Paradise” and ONLY people who attend Chamber Evening (or sign up for the virtual version) will have their names in the hopper with a chance to score this wonderful dive experience. Get your seat at www.chamberday.org.

ROATAN TRIP IN JUNE - FYI the last day I can hold our rooms without a payment penalty is March 27. That doesn't mean I can't get you on last minute. But it means it's based on whether we can get another room or not. So if you're thinking of this, signing up sooner is safer than later. We'll have six days of diving, generally three dives/day, plus two night dives. All the food is included (which was pretty good last year) as well as airport transfers and crew/staff tips. All of this for only $3,195 plus airfare. Either shoot me an e-mail or call 310/652-4990 if you're interested in joining.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME - Did you remember to roll your clocks ahead one hour?

And that'll do it for now. Combination of tired and worried the power may go out again. Check us out on our FaceBook pages for Daily Top 10 pix during the two weeks we'll be down here!!!!
