It's now Monday afternoon in Manado, Indonesia, as I type this and we're going for a night dive in two hours . . .
We've been having a wonderful time overall so far. We got a little rain the first few days but the rain was very polite and didn't start until we were done with all of the dives each day and back at Murex Manado (where we're staying).
Water temps have been around 84 degrees at Bunaken (80 at Lembeh) and viz has been averaging around 80 feet or. Some dives have particulate in the water, some don't. We have had some issues with confused currents, going one way for part of the dive and then switching on us, but the nice thing about drift diving is that you just turn around and literally go with the flow.
We had a really great day at the Lembeh Straits yesterday (Sunday) with three muck dives and all kinds of cool critters. In case you're not familiar with the term, "muck" refers to a black/dark sand dive where you'd assume to find nothing . . . and you'd be wrong. In fact, instead of posting a Daily Top 10 for the Lembeh dives, I posted a Top 10 for each of the three dives we did and didn't repeat a species in the shots I shared with you. If you're interested, here are the links, which include a Mimic Octopus, Flamboyant Cuttlefish, and a Blue-Ringed Octopus (two actually) in the mix:
LEMBEH DIVE 1 TOP 10 PIX
LEMBEH DIVE 2 TOP 10 PIX
LEMBEH DIVE 3 TOP 10 PIX
You can also use this direct link to view the choices for each day we've been here:
INDO 2019 DAILY TOP 10.
We've got one more day (half day actually) of diving and then Wednesday we start the long trek home but we're looking forward to the new non-stop Singapore-LAX flight on Singapore Airlines (Premium Economy no less) which means we leave Manado at 2PM local time and are back in LA at 10PM local time same day.
And that'll do it for now. Have a great week and let's go diving soon!!!
