Natasha:Seemed like a nice lady. Definately a great cook.
She had a great line that went something like: "If you prefer not to use butter, use cream". She seemed so much more real than the "personality" types or "iron chefs".Ann Marie:With all the butter, sugar, cream and other things she ate, she still lived to be 92 or 93!!!! (It really makes me wonder why I bother with the low-sugar, low-fat, low-carb eating.....sigh)![]()
neophytediver:I can't say I ever liked her. She was never a great cook in my mind, she was just around (on TV) so long that people assumed she was good. And don't get me started on her food handling skills. Food Network is doing a special about her tonight and it's all very hypocratic if you ask me. When Jeff Smith (The Frugal Gourment) died earlier this year not a word was said and I'll wager to say he influenced more cooks/chefs of my generation than Julia Child ever did.
It just gets me than recognition after death is thrust on some, but not on all.
The greatest cooks of all time-
