Tusa BC

I got a friend whom own a sport shop in Singapore, not a diving shop. However, he did sell some diving stuff for years.

Recently, I visited him and understand that he is clearing some of his old diving stocks. He is offering to sell me two piece of display Tusa BCs (The models of the BCs must be so old I can't find them in Tusa's site) at very low price. It had probably be hung there for few years, and he offered to let me test them on my first OW dive before I decide. And he is definitely trustworthy.


Some questions are,
1) how should I test a BC?
2) How do I know it is still in tip top conditions?
3) Does most BC have stardard air valve(the tube connected to stage1)?
I understand some brands like Scubapro have air valves not compatible with others.
4) Are there some common terms used for identifying different air valve types?

The inflator quick disconnects for the power inflators on BC's now come in only one flavor which is a vast improvemnt over what it used to be 20 yrs ago when everyone had their own proprietary design.

The exception to this are quick disconnects used for combination inflators and alternate air spources. These use a different fitting. Scubapro uses a standard QD on their inflators and their own fitting for the Air 2. But they both fit on the standard 1" hose to the BC.
