turks & caicos dive report

this is my first dive report, as well my first diving trip, so i have little to compare the diving with. we got to the island on sat. 11th sun shining, taxi waiting so far so good. tina our driver told us this is the off season, it being summer okay. we were expecting to be the only people on the island! just kidding there were 15 rooms booked in our hotel, as were most hotels. which means that over half the resturants were closed, shops as well. the beaches were empty, i mean that there were poeple every 150yds, coming from the east coast this was a shock!! but the water was crystal clear, my wife was swiminig in about 35ft of water trying to touch with her feet. as for the diving we went with cacios adventures super people!!!! it was my wife and my 1st dive and she was a wreck with worry, but fifi and his crew had everything in hand by the end of the week at 90ft down she was pointing out sharks to me! by the second day we were diving the second dive without the dive master, he was close by but we were not following him around like lost puppies. they took care of everything for us, answered all are questions and eplained every dive site. the other divers warend us that we were being spolied at cacios adventures that all dive ops are not like this.
we saw sharks every day, barrucuda,lobsters,stingray,moray ells,manta ray,grupper,flounder,and a ton of little fish. we had a blast! as for the island over all we thought them extreamlly expensive and not relly clean, people were nice and helpful. also there nothing to do after diving besides eating or drinking and that was very expensive as well the taxis about 100.00 per night for dinner and taxi drinks extra
we had fun, and if i win the lottery i would go right back! mike

Now you know why Cozumel is so popular! The diving is just as good (if a bit different) and you don't have to take out a second mortgage for breakfast! Seriously, I love TCI but I have been getting a bigger bang for the buck lately elsewhere.
