Hi, I just come back from Amed and did my advanced open water at eurodive , dives start at 8am in the morning and they can come and take you directly at your hotel to the diving site. My instructor Julia was great, and the all team was very nice and pro, it's a small dive center and their is a good chance you'll be one on one with your instructor, they offer dives at every sites in amed (and their is a lot to see ;) ) I recommand, beside the Liberty which is good but crowded, the site called Pyramid wich is great if you want to meet some sea turtle and if you are (very) lucky, a whale shark ;) Their is also a nice wall in the area if you want to do a deeper dive around 30m+-. They also have a local instructor wich is a specialist of nightdives. He knows how to find every little creatures you can only see at night :)

I'm travelling to Bali next week and will be staying in Tulamben for 5 nights at Mimpi. My husband and I are experienced divers and have dived around Manado, Lembeh, Raja Ampat before but not Bali. We are keen to go critter hunting and avoid big crowds. We'd also like to get out early in the morning for a couple of dives then have the afternoon free to spend with the rest of the family (we are bringing two young children and grand parents as baby sitters).

Any recommendations on the best dive centre to go with? Are Mimpi any good or am I best using another one. Also has anyone been recently and can advise whether the current El Nino has had much impact on the critter spotting?

Thanks!
