The rhinopias seems to be pretty common on the Gili's. I found 3 of them (see pics) on 1 divesite called turtle heaven. For me the first time i saw them, i thought that i discovered a new species but the local guides said they were pretty common an called them leafy scorpion fish. In Tulamben I saw 1 leafy scorpion fish on the left side of the wreck (from the beach) but it was yellowish and not very pretty.

I think there is a lot of macro stuff to be seen on the Gili's but the problem is that most divers there are beginners and most dive outfits don't really care for customers that are interested in small stuff.

We were in Tulamben in July.. luckily we left the day before all the big surf. There is a newish Costasiella sp. that is Yellow with black accents. Hard to find cause it is very very small so you will need a diopter. Maybe your guide will know where it is. I think it was at Big Tree. They said they hadn't seen any Rhinopias recently but the yellow pygmys are still there. I was a little disappointed in the nudi populations compared to previous visits but that happens. I saw a great pic of a jaw fish with eggs the other day so maybe you will get lucky and see him.

Would love to see the Costasiella that would make my day or two! Jawfish with eggs would be nice too. Would love to spend some more time with the wonderpus. Photo'd him in 2011 but would like to give it another go.

I was hoping you would call by Wisnu. I am staying at Liberty dive resort. But will ask the question of the dive guides there.

Any guide to ask for at LDR?

There was a nice largish yellow rhinopia spotted the day after we left Lembeh last month. Met up with some of the divers at Manado airport and saw the the photos …. Murphy huh!

I have only seen the red one in Lembeh.

Hi Ardy, usually I stay in LDR. Most if not all their guide are top class but try to get Uji or jeffry or agus. Since you'll stay in Liberty, you may see Jeff Mullin and Dawn - very nice couple, he can give you lot of advice on UWP.

Ardy are you currently at LDR? Uji is already booked (by me for the next 4 days, btw high waves in Tulamben undiveable today)
I saw pics on facebook, Ketut Tisnu looks very good too, I would book him if I ddin't have Uji.
Jeff is in Papua for 10 days right now.
