The thread was for "destination/trip thailand, indonesia and philippines" not Malaysia.

It's normal though, we tend to be left out like this. Malaysia only have tall buildings, not "safety, cultural or world's best dive sites" :)

I wonder what ppl in Brunei would think, or Singapore. Although Singapore tends to be popular though, for other things.

My thoughts too... I was wondering why Malaysia was left out. It would be high on my list as well... but I guess u don't get those full moon rave parties on Mabul or Layang Layang... :05: (just kiddin)

This brings up a funny thing I overheard from a colleague today. Some European friends of his had cancelled their trip to Sipidan!!! because they were concerned about their safety traveling to Malaysia. In the end they chose the Philippines... LOL...

edit: sorry not making fun of the philippines. Love the place, people, and the great diving there but honestly I would say I would feel a lot safer traveling in remote parts of Malaysia than some of the rougher parts of the PI...

dems fighting words pak... heheh.

That's true, Malaysia isn't as media hyped as PI on the terrorist or pirates. And Malaysia's been doing some great tourism advertising in the last year or so that I've really been interested to go.

But I'd still pick PI over malaysia. NOTE: both countries are in the coral triangle.

Well, Malaysia islands are really NOT for parties and raves anyway, and I hope it stays that way :)

I want to dive then have a good nite rest, HEHE.

You might consider Bali. Six weeks is a long time to be in one spot, so you might want to go somewhere that offers a few different choices. www.scubaseraya.com might be what you are looking for. They have a house reef, also, they are near Tulamben which has a great wreck dive. The east side of Bali, where scuba seraya is located, is somewhat off the beaten track. Also the north of the island at Lovina, although I don't think there is a house reef there. Other places to consider in the area are the Gili Isands, Candidasa, Padang Bai, Nusa lembongan, or even head out to Flores and stay in Lubuanbajo and get in a few dives in the Komodo area.
