Yes, obvious. Fill to "full' mark and switch it on.

After that don't worry about it.
I assume when you shut it off it's back at the right level?

How has it lasted for the last 2 years?

I have an old French compressor I revived...
That's a bit worn on the swash block.
I intentionally overfill it so the bottom of the swash block sits in the oil for better lubrication, not just a bit of splash.... (my first, but not my main compressor)
