I am starting the plans for a trip to Truk, Yap, and Palau in the spring/early summer of 09. Has anyone tryed this trip combo before? Is there a liveaboard that covers more than one of these islands in 1 trip?
BTW - I do plan to take about 21 days, but can stretch it out if I need to.

I did Truk & Palau in May.
it is difficult to do all 3 due to the flight connections(Especially if you are having to fit the travel to liveaboard schedule).

these Islands are far apart so you need to fly to each destination.
To do the 3 you will need about 25 days.

I would definately recommend Truk & Palau.

Thats about what I figured.. I had hoped to get Truk and Yap together via ship, but I cant find where I read about it. I didnt think about adding the extra 3 days to cover travel time.. I appreciate it.

We have dove all three and did a Yap+Chuuk combo. Aggressor use to have a boats in Palau and Chuuk and you could do those as a combo but I think they moved there Chuuk boat to Fiji.

I am not aware of anyone doing Yap as a live-aboard. For Chuuk the Odessy is the way to go, we really liked the Ocean hunter group for Palau and Manta Bay Resort is about your best option for Yap. Due to weather dive sites in Yap were limited and as much as we love Mantas 4-5 days there is plenty, IMHO.

I saw a Discovery Channel special last fall where Richard Pyle, Mike de Gruy and a handful of other divers did a Truk -> Puluwat -> Yap -> Palau trip on the Big Blue Explorer but I'm pretty sure that it was a private charter paid for by the BBC. I don't remember exactly but it must've been four or five weeks long.

Thorfinn will do 14 day Truk-Yap cruises a couple times next year. Cheap? No, but would be cool to do. Was just looking into that myself...

Sorry for the delay, I got called out of town to help fix up a future hunting resort/camp.
This is some great info!!! The Thorfin is real close to what I want to do. I have tried checking into private charters, (even as a deck hand), but havent had much luck.
My wife is an advanced diver, but has trouble getting her ears to clear. Are there any dives I should avoid for her sake?

when you get to palau, make sure you dive with sam's tours. I dove there last thanksgiving and it was spectacular. Breakfast and Lunch is provided. You get to eat on one of the rock islands. Check out continental micronesia cause they're the only carrier I know of that goes to all three places. Chances are, you're flying into guam?
