Hi

I wonder how I can attach a tripod to my D300 Ikelite housing.

I saw one person with a new D90 housing and it had predrilled and threaded holes at the bottom of the "tray" (not sure that's the correct word for it).

Can I drill and thread my own holes??
Will the material really hold?
etc!

Thanks!

You could drill and tap it yourself. You may try putting a helicoil in to reduce corrosion issues. Since you'll be breaking the coating on the tray, make sure to rinse well with freshwater and dry after each use.

Alternatively the new tray can be ordered through an Ikelite distributor as #0611.

Hi Jean,

thanks for the reply.
I have not been able to locate #0611 anywhere though. E.g. I searched for it at B&H that usually has anything you make.
Can I order it directly from you?
How much is it?
Is it a kit in which the handles are included?
Is it the same plate for all your recently new D-SLR houses?

It is not a part that most dealers would typically stock. You may try ordering through our distributor in Sweden:

Scuba Supply AB
Malmoe, Sweden
Distributor for Scandinavia
Phone 46-40-186262
e-mail: info@scubasupply.se
URL: www.scubasupply.se

If you're unable to order it through them then try contacting our office at ikelite@ikelite.com.

US suggested retail price for the tray is $100. This is the bar only, you would need to attach your existing handles. Mounting hardware to the housing is sold separately: screws (2) #0333.7 and shims (2) #0278.92.

In the future it would be very nice if Ikelite would pre-drill the bases. I currently own three Ikelite kits and have been trying to figure out how to do this same modification.
