Hey,
Some of us are running down to Wilmington, NC with aquatic safaris to go to the city of houston. There are 4 of us so far, boat holds 18. The City of Houston went down off Frying Pan Shoals, depth I had last time was 95 I think. Listed as one of the best sites on NC. Went down in 1878, a storm I think.

Sounds like a great trip. We tried to get out to that wreck last summer & found they need good conditions to get there as it is a pretty good distance off shore.
I would love to go, but we (my wife & I) are looking at new drysuits for a dive to the Great Lakes this summer.
Please post a trip report upon your return.

You have the same problem I do, huh.... If you get a new drysuit, the other half wants one too...and tanks, BCs, trips.....By the way, a few of us are heading to the Great Lakes in July, plus June in NC for a few days.....

Well I have a DS & the wife needs 1 so I think its time to upgrade mine:eyebrow:.
My diving equip. is well beyond hers as she is a total rec diver & I am getting pretty serious about tech, doubles,bp/wings,can. light etc.:D
Who are you diving in NC with in June? We normally hit NC once or twice a year.
We did Cape Fear Diving south of Wilmington & Atlantis in Atlantic Beach this year.
Had great times with both. We have also used Discovery in Morehead City & liked them as well.
We will be in the Great Lakes in August. Diving with Osprey Charters.

The Mutiny- Atlantic Beach Diving. For a bit it was Diver Down 2....

Cool I talked to them about a possible trip last Oct. but couldnt get up the interest needed to make it happen.
When are you planning on hitting Wilmington? Isnt the 13th a Sunday? I think I may be able to make the trip, but I think I will be by myself. My wife would have a tough time getting Monday off, but I could do it. Are you staying in Wilmington Sat. nite & if so where?

Thats a fun wreck. I was lucky enough to get three dives in on her last May. Have fun.

Jay,

What are the conditions there in Jan? Is it dry suit wear, or is it far enough South? I dove Myrtle Beach last year, but it was in June.

Thanks
Gary

Rad,
I'm going on the COH trip on the 13th and decided that I should get one more than one day of diving in for all the driving involved so I started a charter to the rosin wreck. It looks really cool, but is a little deeper to sand (115ft). There is more info on the wreck at http://www.wilmingtondiving.com/rosinwreck.shtml Hope you can make a full weekend.

I was on it in Mid November, right after an offshore mess brought the lab current- had a bottom temp of 56 or 59. I have heard that to be a little cool for that particular wreck, but- always assume the worst. I am diving dry, my buddy wet, and the other 2 dry. It all depends on your ideas of cold. I have been in 41 degree water in a wetsuit, and I know a couple that have done ice diving wet. Hope this helps.
