May 22-23-24-25. The only thing wrong with this trip was it was to short. We usually stay 7-10 days but had only 5 days (4 days diving) this trip. Got in 4 wonderful days of diving. Conditions were magnifiacate. We got to Punta Sur(devils throat) on the 23rd, Maricabo on the 24th and Palancar Bricks on the 25th. Seas were calm. Once again , Mau, Opal, Divemasters, captians and staff did a great job. Thanks guys:D

Angie and I met up with fellow divers each afternoon at LaPalapita beach club for lunch and some cold adult beverages and of course to talk about diving. Lots of great folks diving with Scuba Mau this week. (as always) Then off for dinner each night. This trip included La Choza, Zapata Grill, The new place across from Villa Blanca. What used to be Mezcalitos West The Hatch??. (same menu) and one of our favorites, Los Otates. Also the little taco place next to the OXXO is expanding since Mezcalitos has moved. Great place for lunch also.

And then we went sailing on the afternoon of the 25th. Dario of Cozumel boat trips was great. About a 3 or 4 hour sunset tour up and down the island. A great way to cap off a wonderful trip. Dario is a great guy. Former divemaster on the island and a 3rd generation sailor. And quite the traveler.

As well, the room at the Villa Blanca was great. We flew into Cancun this time and were getting in a little late. We caught the 10 PM ferry and called Villa Blanca as we were leaving Playa and asked them if they would turn on the AC for us. They did and the room was nice and cool once we arrived.

Already planning the next trip.

Salute`

I've always thought that Villablanca is a well kept secret. Their "superior" rooms are one of the best deals we've found over the years, especially with the deals through a couple big travel sites or Travelnotes.cc We've enjoyed many stays there.

So the restaurant above Papa Hog's dive shop on the ocean side of the road is finally rebuilt and opened? I'd like to hear more about it, if you don't mind.

A couple of my friends were vacationing in Cozumel over the same time and they wanted to to Otates but said it was closed, lack of business. (Temporary, not closed down).

The new resturant has a great view. There menu is the same one that was at Mez. West.
Food was good. Fajitas, Quesadillas , some salads etc. I had never been in this building before so do not know how to compare. We will eat there again. Nice to have another selection near Villa Blanca. We keep trying to get to Rendez Blu (down the street at Blue Angel)for a dinner meal since they are open now for dinner but in 2 trips have not made it.

The 25th was the only night we trid Los Otates so I guess we got lucky.
