I'm a Fish!
The trip was Thursday last week. Vis was 100 to 150 feet, the sun was intense, and there were so many turtles I did not know what to do with all of them :-)
I have video of about 10 on this one dive.

Also of note, Breakers Reef is a huge reef. It goes for miles, and encompasses several unique bottom structures and different types of marine ecosystems. This one dive was in a central part of the crown on the initial part of the dive, then moving to the inshore ledge. There is actually spectacular color on this reef, which you can only see a small part of the time, because I stayed to high in the water collum while glorying in the 100 foot plus vis...oh well, next time I will get close to the bottom more, and show colors.

The video is at YouTube - ‪breakers-pauls1‬‏

For the next DIR trip, I want to get the group on Breakers at least for 1 or two dives. A turtle safari, and general sightseeing. We would also need to hit the off-shore ledge, with is nothng like the crown or inshore... I will shoot it next....The offshore ledge is about 90 feet deep at the bottom, with finger like protrusions you drift over, kind of like floatingh over valleys. you stay about 10 minutes over the fingers, then swim upward along the gradual "wall" of the offshore ledge, from 90 feet to about 35 feet, at which point you are on the crown-- about 200 yards wide in many areas, 100 yards wide in some. You cruise over it, heading west, and end up on the inshore ledge as seen in this video. Thye crown is the best place to find turtles and eels, lobster and many other cool creatures along the way to the inshore ledge.

that's cool man. I've done lots of dives on that reef
im in the keys the weekend of the third if anyone wants to go diving.

Boy, that is gorgeous, lush reef!

For color, Dan, I've seen some folks (noticeably KMD in Monterey) combine video with interposed still photographs -- if you show a video segment of a piece of reef, and interpose one of Sandra's pictures of it, you get the image of the color with the great sense of space and movement that the video brings. I have found Kevin's videos very effective in conveying Monterey's beauty. THIS is not the best example, but will give you an idea of what he does.

Makes me wish I lived bit further south in Florida man. Sent the link to my mom.

Dan,

Looks awesome!! We are very sorry we were out of town for this one. PLEASE keep us posted for the next one.

Such beautiful dives & incredible vis!

Thanks for sharing Dan :)!

Nice Dan!

We did the Juno Ledge and Tunnels in Jupiter the following Saturday. Set the bar pretty high for the summer. When I figure out how to post pics again you'll see our float line flopping in the current like a wet noodle. Minimal current. Hundred plus of viz. 79 to 81 degrees in the water and lots of big critters.
