First let me say Cave Diver if you going to give advice Know what the heck you Talking about .
First never bend Your hose as stated by Cave Diver"you might be able to pinch the hose off by doubling it back on itself to stop the air loss"
This is Wrong and you wont find any equipment Manufacture to recommend same .
The correct procedures would be first push the purge button and see if it stops it one maybe just a stuck valve.
another would be a SeaJay stated this causing back pressure pushing against the venturi . also done by taking and banging the mouth piece against your hand creating backpressure ,
and last is breath off your partners rig turn you tank off and then retry it .
If all else feels abort the dive as you did
one thing it is posssible that the regulator did freeze.
however most regs do fine in water above 40 degree's
