Aww man. I loved his books. RIP
 
Just learned Bob died! Such a loss. When I first met him, it was after a Mako bit his arm. I've known three people to be bitten by sharks. Bob's was the only entirely unprovoked attack.
 
Wow. We should all aspire to achieve one tenth of this man's great life.
May his family find solace in the admiration he garnered in life.

I met Bob a couple times. My father (also a scuba instructor) was Bob's landlord for his office location for a few years near the end. Bob once gave me a tour of his home and all the relics he had found over his lifetime. Each had an amazing story that went with it. At the end he would attach an estimate of the value of the object. The numbers were staggering. At the end of the tour he said "Next time you come I will take you to the vault where the expensive stuff is." :eek:
