The Museum of Man in the Sea here in Panama City has descended into a state of neglect and disrepair over the past 2 decades and is trying to put its house in order under new leadership on its board of directors. Cash is much needed for the restoration and maintenance of the exhibits. The original Sea Lab is one of these as are several other habitats and vehicles from the Navy EDU and other agencies.

To that end we are planning on having a dive based fundraiser where treasure (aluminum coins bigger than a silver dollar) are hidden on many of the local shallower dive sites and may be redeemed for a prize at the end of a 3 day event. It looks like we are trying to organize this event for the end of October or early November. Any feed back is welcome as are donations to the event. The museum is a not for profit organization and all donations would be considered to a charitable organization for tax purposes. We need a huge turnout for this event that should be a blast to participate in.

This idea is about 30 minutes old as of my posting this. I should say that I serve on the board of directors and I run a scuba charter here in PCB. The museum has alot of potential and it was a favorite of mine growing up, no doubt playing into my love of and fascination with the sea. If you would like to help us preserve our diving heritage through this event or in any other way please call the museum (850) 235-4101 or send me an email @ patrickmgreen@gmail.com and know that you have our thanks!
