I am moving to Bahrain (Island in the Middle East in the persian gulf) in August, and will most likely be needing to take the 2 tanks I plan to purchase on the plane with me.... Does anyone know of any airline restrictions on taking tanks on board? (would be in checked luggage)....

Can you get them packed into anyone's military gear that is getting shipped air-freight? There is a way to get tanks on a plane if you do a good search of the TSA's website, but the easiest thing for them to do is say 'No'. Post 9-11 traveling with tanks is a total headache. They would need to be shipped without their valves, and they should have ready access to be inspected.

I would try to find some way to crate them up and get them shipped over with replacement parts destined for the Gulf.
