we are off very soon to Maldives flying Emirates via Dubai from the uk. I have a bit of photography equipment I want to carry in hand luggage ie. 2 x Digital camera, 2 strobes, sola 800 led light, batteries for the strobes and two dive computers. Do you think this will be ok to carry on in a hold-all/backpack?
I'm a little nervous of the sola light being refused as I have been told they don't like dive lights?
Any advice

I've flown that route a few times, and have never had any issues. Be aware of dimensional restrictions, but nobody was weighing anything or overly concerned with equipment. As you may well imagine, they've seen all sorts of expensive hardware being carried on.

In the current age of disagreeable airline employees and customer experience, I look forward to flying Emirates. By any current standard, they are top shelf. Brilliant.

Spend your layover gawking at Dubai duty free. If nothing else, people watching. I take a few extra days when I can and did the indoor skiing thing. Tooooo much!

The transition from Maldives/Male Arport to your dive op is one of those remarkable life experiences that must be done to understand. Enjoy!
