Three of us recently travelled from Toronto to Chuuk, flying with United and we all had the Pelican products 1510 carrying case. Mine was stuffed, as I did not use any foam, but packed and wrapped carefully with a small bag of light clothes in the lid. I also carried my SLR in an SLR case and a small backpack. Had two complete U/W compact camera Systems two strobes and two video heads. along with wet lenses, batteries, chargers etc. All other gear in a checked Suitcase. All got there and back, but have to Admit , it wasn't fun going through all the airports etc.
 
I use a Lowe Pro backpack which also has a slot for my Mac, never leaves my back when I am checking in



Housing, strobes and arms are wrapped in T-Shirts in a Pelican 1510
