Who have you had good experiences with for travel insurance?
I haven't used DAN other than for dive related insurance. Travel Guard? Others?

Did you do a search? There are some exhausting threads on this topic....I use insurance office of America out of Arizona for my diving and motorcycle trips.

Yes I started a search but most of the topics that came up were not specific to insurance. The insurance aspect was buried within other long threads. Thats why I started a new one.

I've used DAN's travel insurance for the last couple of trips, though thankfully I haven't had to actually use the coverage so i don't know how they are when it comes time to pay up for a covered reason.

However, I have seen them in action on the scuba side for a friend who needed to use the chamber for a few days. It was all super easy. So, my reason for using DAN for travel is two-fold:
1. If their travel insurance arm is anything like their dive insurance arm, it should be a good experience.
2. Hypothetically, if a scuba injury resulted in needing to invoke travel-related coverage, I'm hopeful that things would go smoothly since the DAN organization would already have a lot of information about the situation.

When I've gone to or needed coverage for more dangerous areas/travel I've used Dogtag. I haven't had to use the coverage ever, but the signup and coverage were good at the time.

Search the word "insurance" with my username specifically. You will find a lot of resources. I have extensively compared DAN's travel insurance (not dive accident) to Dive Assure's. Dive Assure's is more favorable for Americans as it has more dive specific coverage and clauses including weather and sick clauses for missed diving...as well as a liveaboard rider. I recommend Dive Assure. You can buy just travel (if you call in) or if you buy online it is travel and dive accident. You can buy per trip or annual. I still carry DAN dive accident since I think they are still the leaders and industry recognized name. I couple that with GeoBlue Traveler Insurance for $1M $0 deductible for not very much for my age. I also have regular health insurance that covers int'l but not to the extent of GeoBlue.

Here are some resources. Let me know if you have any specific Qs!

Dan Travel Insurance failed us again are there any better alternatives
Travel Insurance for upcoming trip to Cozumel
Dive Trip/Travel Insurance?
When a liveaboard trip is cancelled the day you arrive....
Experience with DiveAssure’s liveaboard rider?

thanks for the info! Also I searched again but this time saw the option to search in the title, which brought up travel insurance specific threads:). I will look into Dive Assure. If I understand you correctly you have DAN dive accident (which I have, preferred level), Dive Assure and GeoBlu??

Dive assure is looking for 450 bucks for a 9 day trip for me and the misses...seems high? I'll check with Insurance office of America tomorrow for this Jan 2919 trip to the Caymans....I already have DAN travel accident along with my BCBS Cadillac coverage domestically...I'll post up once I receive my quote.

That seems very reasonable to me depending on the cost of your trip that you want covered! And thats for 2 people or for each of you?
