It's been a week since anyone has posted anything here and since I'm packing for a trip I thought I would show an option for travel. A few yeas ago I tried a Aeris Jetpack I liked the idea of it but it was sort of heavy and flimsy. I did notice that airlines, at least the US carriers pay little to no attention to a backpack as far as size and weight.

This is set up with a VDH backplate and standard 2" webbing, using a to large SP X-tec 30 wing because I have it and its more narrow than my Dive Rite XT travel wing. I use Oceanic Accel fins because they are light and compact and the silicone straps hold stuff in well like my size 15 booties and a mask. In the weight pouches I carry a folding Snorkel and my Galileo computer.

I string the fins onto a 10L drybag with a small strap.

In the Bag, regulator, gloves, 2mm hood, rash guard, and two 4x Akona 1mm full wetsuits, why two? because I can layer if I get coldish and they pack smaller than a 3mm

And an Atomic Z2

I usually break the reg down, I put the first in a zip lock bag so I don't need to plug anything.

Warm water is so much easier than the normal cold diving I do with a truck bed full of stuff.

Back to your regular programing...

@lexvil : 14 booties? Duct tape your toes together and leave the fins behind....:rofl3:

Grab a pack cover from REI or similar to sort of unitize the whole thing. Keeps sticky hands away.

I’ll look into it.

Interesting to see how you rigged that plate. I use the traditional crossed straps.....

I don’t care for the hog sytly one piece harness, straps always sliding down mt shoulders, more of a comfort issue for me, I use the H shale with keepers on a separate waist belt and a chest strap. I also find my set up easier to adjust higher on my back for single hose use and lower for the Kraken.

I used this back plate like this for Thailand last year and Mexico for the Kraken and even some Kraken diving in the fall in the Channel Islands, it works great in general and has been my go to for diving where I don’t use a dry suit because it’s hard to sling enough weight off of it.

I would love it if Bryan would offer his flat plate in stainless, around 10lbs!

Not a hogarthian one piece, but two separate straps, crossed at your shoulder blades.... Old school..

I had it set like that and it worked pretty well but it limited my adjustments more than I liked but if history is any indicator I may end with it crossed again some time in the future.
