Hi -

I've been offered a good price on a TP and a TPII. Can anyone tell me the major advantages/disadvantages/differences between the two please.

Both appear in equally good conditon, the TPII is another US$80.

I'll be adding my own wing (a DR Rec)

Thanks

Is the "TP" a actual original TransPac, or a TransPlate? Sometime those are referred to as "TP", but the TransPlate is a backplate rig.

Geez, I haven't seen an original TransPac in forever. You probably are better off going with the TPII... it's still sold and you can get it serviced at a DiveRite dealer with little fuss. It also has more options, being newer.

TP and TPII are very similar if not identical. Dove a TP about 5 years ago. Bought a TPII two years ago. Love it. Used to dive a SQ Pro QD+ jacket. Greatly prefer the versatility of a rear inflate wing that is changable with your needs. Buy the TPII. You will love it. I would definately try it on before buying if at all possible.

Depending on the offers, TPII is around $200 plus shipping at LP.
In addition, you had better consider the value when you want to sell it.
So, go figure.

I have and would recommend the TransPlate.....especially if you EVER plan to go doubles. You can always rig up a back pad if you feel like you need one
rich

I second the recommendation for the TransPlate. You get the stability of a backplate with the comfort of the TransPac harness, for the same price as a TPII.

Amen on the transplate. Picking mine up this weekend.
