Tried a backplate but don't like it. I'm over 6'2" and can't get the "waist" belt close to my waist and keep the top of the plate against my back. 2xl harnesses seem to be a waste until there are 2xl plates.
How adjustable are the Transpacs? Seems to be the only "back inflate" that comes in a 2xl. Is there enough vertical adjustment? Have tried dealers but none stock the 2x and won't order without a non-refundable deposit. Of course I can use the deposit for other things in their store.(Gee thanks)
Thanks in advance for any help.

On the BP side, FredT makes a XL version at 2" longer than standard (which I have on order), and is willing to custom size them. I believe there are others that will custom size one. You might run into location issues with a "non-standard" plate, but for my uses the sizing should be OK. I will let you know if it fits better, if you are interested...

The Transpac 2XL is very customizable. It was really close to fitting me (6'8" 320), but I didn't like where the pad fit on my back. Very nice unit, though...

The sizes on the TransPac are somewhat deceiving: the XL and XXL have the same backpad. The only differences are in:
- the length of the shoulder strap
- the length of the waist-belt (or cummerbund)

The XXL will not do much for you height-wise; it is mostly for "heavier" persons. Regarding customizability: the only things you can adjust (or replace) are the waist-strap/cummerbund and the shoulder strap.
