From the Sunday newspaper in Kenora....
A commercial diving accident has claimed the life of a 30-year-old Kenora Police Services officer.
Constable Jeff Ferguson was on a day off and participating in a salvage operation for Sunset Diving when he died Wednesday afternoon. He was working as part of a dive team to raise a vehicle from Deception Bay on Lake of the Woods.
Ferguson came to the Kenora Police Service from Lac Seul in 1998. He leaves behind wife Rebecca Wassaykeesic who is a constable with the Kenora detachment of the OPP and three young children.
A post mortem examination Thursday revealed the cause of death to be a massive air embolism. Kenora OPP and the Ministry of Labour continue to investigate the incident.
