Hey does anybody know of a car rental place, besides LessPay, that rents Chevy Trackers (those little jeep thingy's)?

I saw one by another shop when we were there in May, but didn't get the name of the rental company.

Yeah, there is a guy down the street from me that rents them pretty cheap.

Don't expect them to be four wheel drive.

And don't take it north from Mescalito's. Whatever insurance you take won't be valid up there and even a true 4WD would likely get stuck.

We have rented the Trackers (Geo which could be Chevy) from Fiesta Car Rental but did so at the hotel. They apparently have offices in town as they bring them from town to us when we reserve one. Lately they are fairly new and in good shape. In the past some were in bad shape (rust, soft top not good, etc). And lately in the newer ones they have working AC, radio and the check engine light was not always on.

thanks guys, I'll check with Fiesta before our next trip.

NO not worried about 4WD or going north of Mescelito's, we just think the vehicle is the right size for us on the island.

I've rented from LessPay for YEARS, but the past couple years, their trucks had not much of anything left on them for safety features ... turn signals & seat belts.

I've been renting cars in Cozumel for almost 20 years, so I know MOST car rentals on the island are "beaters", they strip the carpet out because of sand issues & 4wd usually doesn't work (don't use it anyway).

Safety features... Many years ago a buddy and I rented a VW Thing at that place that used to be there at the Barracuda. I pulled out onto Melgar with very mild acceleration and my buddy and the passenger seat he was sitting in did a slow back roll into the back seat. I went around the block and returned it. :D

BUT you were paying less right?
