Where is she getting that 90% figure? That seems incredibly exaggerated.

She does not appear to differentiate purely recreational divers from those that dive to consume marine resources. The latter case does not fall under the auspices of a tourism office.

i don't like to be her advocate bu as i understand the issue.

1. the article was not the message she was intending to send

2. it was a misprint, it think it is the error of the journalist who did tha. if that journalist was a true journalist the data shold have been verified and then match up with the article. if the 90% by divers were true then he states statistics if not he should have shown statistics to show as well.

3. so my take is the "journalist" who issued that article is a "sensationalist" journalist or a person who has no inkling on the impact of the reef

4. AS to the image of a diver with the turtle. her take is that that picture should not have been the choice as it sends the wrong message. She is opposed to the picture and she says it is not beign a responsible diver and does not reflect the majority of responsible divers. the picture shows the few irresponsible divers , hence it may give a bad impression on the sport.

5. she is issuing such a statement to gain support to protect the reef by promoting scub diving as a tourism aspect.

6. it is to gain support for the commission to assist the Scuba Diving SPort. at least that is the intent.

paolov:
should the commissiners be a certified SCUBA DIVER?

.

i believe i mentioned it before on another thread that she was "appointed" to the post of ASEC for Phil Tourism Authority after her stint as Phil Sports Commission. There was alot of heat that time at PSC...athletes rallying against the commissioners and the Chairman (Eric Buhain) thus she was placed elsewhere.

NO you dont have to be scuba diver to be appointed as commissioner...you just have to be the college "bestfriend" of the pursident eyebrow eyebrow eyebrow

not acceptable. i want commissioner of Philippine Ports Authority and concurrently Aviation Commission. there that is acceptable.

however, maybe it's the other way around, i will appoint you as Commissioner for Scuba Diving and PSG Chief hehehehehe.
