From the pics, I believe it was a turretfish!

It had a more narrow top than any of the cowfish pictures I've seen so far, and it's picture immediately "looked right" to me.

Although, I don't remember much, if any, spotting or stripes. It seems that it was pretty much a solid blue. I'm going with Turretfish unless someone can dispute the royal blue.

Are the names Turretfish and Cowfish being used interchangeably to mean the same fish?

Because from what I've read so far, Turretfish simply do not exist in Cozumel. That is out of their range. They are Indo Pacific dwellers.

Try it - do a search on 'Turretfish Cozumel' and see what pops up! :fishy:
 
I'm not an a-fish-anado, buttttttt----I've seen gray triggerfish act a lot like this while I've been off gassing.
