'Newbie' is an overstatement. I signed up for a PADI open water class last week. We go to a lot of beach resorts, and I'm getting tired of just sitting around the pool and drinking the whole time. I don't like doing the typical tourista stuff, so I figured diving would allow me to get off my butt and do something that didn't make me feel like one of a bazillion tourists.

Sorry for the long post. I'm jazzed about learning a new hobby that I've only dreamed about until now.

What part of Texas? We may not have the best diving, but there are quite a few places around that can be fun. Especially if you're near the coast. Rig dives can be a lot of fun.
