... when the captain had the radio tuned to a station playing those long concert jams by the Grateful Dead. It was the last day of the dive trip- a beautiful day, even by South Florida standards, a cool breeze, and zen-ful dives.

When we were diving up in Lake Superior on our week long liveaboard we would listen to the wreck of the edmund Fitzgerald evey time we came to the Emperor or the Congdon....... If you have ever dove the upper northern part of Michigan you must be able to relate.... "Can't you?"

I sing during the dive. Sometimes drives my dive partner nuts, but I sure enjoy it. My favorite is In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. If I see a large carp or buffalo, I will start humming the Jaws theme. Occasionally a Jimmy Buffett tune.

....My favorite is In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly....

Since my given name is Davida, this classic has been one of my favorites! Did you know that the original title was In the Garden of Eden? Seems the chemical influence the band was under sort of scrambled the words!

I heard the record label thought the title/subject of the song too sacrilegious. The "scrambling" was "thug" induced, not drug induced!

I prefer songs from Metallica / the album "Metallica".....this is probably because my friend had bought the cd, when it came out...we were spending the weekend at Lake Travis....he was getting his advanced cert and I was just coming into the sport...so everytime I hear one of the songs on the album...I think of diving.......

Come all ye young fellows that follow the sea,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
And pray pay attention and listen to me,
Give me some time to blow the man down.

I'm a deep water sailor just in from Hong Kong,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
if you'll give me some grog, I'll sing you a song,
Give me some time to blow the man down.

'Twas on a Black Baller I first served my time,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
And on that Black Baller I wasted my prime,
Give me some time to blow the man down.

'Tis when a Black Baller's preparing for sea
to my way haye, blow the man down,
You'd split your sides laughing at the sights that you see.
Give me some time to blow the man down.

With the tinkers and tailors and soljers and all
to my way haye, blow the man down,
That ship for prime seaman on board a Black Ball.
Give me some time to blow the man down.

'Tis when a Black Baller is clear of the land,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
Our Boatswain then gives us the word of command
Give me some time to blow the man down.

"Lay aft," is the cry,"to the break of the Poop!
to my way haye, blow the man down,
Or I'll help you along with the toe of my boot!"
Give me some time to blow the man down.

'Tis larboard and starboard on the deck you will sprawl,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
For "Kicking Jack" Williams commands the Black Ball.
Give me some time to blow the man down.

Pay attention to order, now you one and all,
to my way haye, blow the man down,
For right there above you flies the Black Ball.
Give me some time to blow the man down.
