DO understand that not every dive is always going to be a brilliant dive playing with nemo...sometimes, the bad dives that didnt go the way you planned are the ones you learn the most from.

DO understand that no matter what certification or gear you have mother nature can and will possibly kick your ass and remind you who is in charge.

DO understand that diving experience is the best educator rather than the internet. The more dives, the more you relax, the more you are able to deal with a situation if it ever should arise.

Do understand its neither a race nor a competitive sport...no one gives a fat rats if your wetsuit cost $99 or $999..if they do, are they the sort of person you want to dive with?

Do find a good mentor/instructor even better if they are both rolled into one.

Dont freak out if you vomit underwater..think of it as a bonus way of legally chumming the water so you get lots of pretty fish action around your face.

Dont worry about how you look underwater...fish must think we are fugly to begin with.

Dont forget diving is FUN not something to continually worry about.

Dont feel you have to go have a drink and socialize after a dive, depends on the type of person you are...I personally like being alone for a few hours after a dive, mentally im still down there and relaxed and have no desire to chat.

Do it for you, not for anyone else.
