I am considering a career change to recreational SCUBA Diving. I am 32. Do you think it is too late for me to become a divemaster or an instructor? Will I have relatively little potgential in this profession because of starting late, if late?

You don't state how long you've been diving (scuba)..what experience do you have? Are you certified in scuba?? What level? Age isn't a factor, experience is.

No, 32 is not too old! If you want to do it, go for it, just make sure you are prepared. Lots of discussion on here about the ins and outs and pros and cons, but your age is certainly not a factor.

Cheers

C.

I did mine in my later 40's and continue to teach in my 50's It is NOT my day job and I could not expect to make a living on it.

I too became an instructor at 50. I've enjoyed it now for over 10yrs, but as previously stated you aren't likely to get rich. It is a nice hobby.

Experience and fitness are are lacking in many cases, no matter the age.

Thank you everyone for your replies. That has been very helpful for a start. I have a relevant question for Steve50. What shouldn't I expect to get rich? Aren't scuba divers normally well paid, specifically instructors?
