This may be a noob question, but i'm not sure so i'll ask... I just got my AL 80 filled and when i hooked up my regs and checked the pressure it is at about 3250 psi. I know the rated psi is 3000. Do i need to bleed out some of the air or will 250 over be fine? thanks....sorry if it was dumb...i just don't want to possibly rupture a burst disk...

I think (please correct me if I am wrong) the burst disk is a factor of 1.4 (or 40%) so your 3250 will be fine. Could be different temperature etc... I wouldn't worry about it.

Right, i believe it is too, i just didn't know if the extra pressure stressed the tank's structure at all...

You got a good fill and you need to thank the guy who pumps up your tank. March thru October I'll have to get 3 or 4 fills a week for my working dives. I drop off a case of beer or leave a $20 on the regulator bench every week or two.

I get good fills.;)

Filling it to 3250 is unlikly to cause any significant stress on the tank any time soon. Filling it to 4000 would be more likely to, but it should still be safe for quite a long time. Be glad you got a good fill! :)

You should also check the accuracy of yhour gauge. Plus or minus a few hundred psi is not uncommon. Has the shop put their gauge onit and compare it with yours, And if you really are getting 3000+, thank him and dive.

Luxfer says the minimum burst pressure on their cylinders is 2.5x the service pressure.
So: Hydro is at 5,000, and (minimum) burst is a 7,500 for an Al80 rated to 3,000.

I wouldn't worry. As everyone else says...I'd thank your fill monkey. ;)

Just enjoy it..You'll get plenty of 2750psi fills to make up for it...
The hydro test pressure is 5000psi

now I get it, the 3000 is short for "Please average 3000 psi in this tank"......:D............GEAUX TIGERS...........

EDIT:........(I just noticed your last name---I like it)
