Tonga/Vava'u accomodation

We are going to Vava'u island of Tonga for whale watching in Aug/Sep.

Can someone recommend accomodation in vavau island?

We prefer not stay in some island resort, it's hard to get to pier. any recommendation on some guesthouse or resort close to pier/downtown?tnx.

Paradise used to be great. although their reception area caught fire and they take a long time to get things done.

are you swimming with the whales? which company?
