I have a tray
Its tethered to me diagonally

right tether to my right waistband D clip

left tether to my left shoulder strap D clip

Just last week a diver with an untethered gopro dropped his gopro while climbing onto the ladder onto the boat - he must've thought it was safe and subconsciously let go of it

So far I'm liking the coiled lanyard solution, allows short & long tethered configurations without too much bulk in the way.

Unfortunately the one I bought from the dive shop broke at BOTH coil ends on my dive yesterday, after maybe 10 dives. I never actually load the coil as it's only in use when I'm actively holding onto the rig and shooting, not sure why it broke so trivially & catastrophically.

I am looking for a new one where the coil is attached to the lanyard via a continuation of the coil rather than this weak plastic insert method.

Unfortunately most of the newer lanyards seem to use wire gate carabiners rather than bolt snaps.
