Sounds like the latch does not penatrate the hull if they have to release it, and the crew outside cannot.
I don't remember it in detail...
But the other part was etched in my brain. Because i have always wanted to build one. (My dad had a large 4ft dia 600psi air tank, but once we did the math on it, wouldn't even come close to floating... my plans are kinda on hold for multiple other projects)

This one is a carbon fibre sub not made of metal… I don’t know if fatigue testing of carbon fibre is required and whether it’s strength and lack of deterioration were overestimated…
Inagoddadavida baby....

I'm wondering if it might have been a good idea to give the crew an emergency option to "blow" the hatch with explosive bolts once on the surface. Also, I have two "Gumby" full immersion suits that I keep on my boat for long range Tuna runs and they really don't really take up that much space..... Those suits along with the simple $400 EPIRB I keep onboard could make the difference in any surface rescue scenario...

I know that it easy for me to be an "armchair quarterback" ......but for $250K a seat, I would expect that the owners and engineers of this expedition would have put more thought into factoring in any and all potential emergency scenarios. There is a solid reason why Apollo 13 was able to return...

I am not a praying man.....but I will say that all of my positive thoughts and hopes are with the crew and passengers of this ill-fated expedition. Hoping for a miracle!!!

Not sure I follow....
How do you push the front hatch open?

Pic of there full dome sub (the Cyclops) which seems to be very similar. Note the waterline.

You're mixing up the two subs. The one with the large dome is cylcops and the one with the small viewport is titan.

Edited for name correction
