Interesting, Barracuda2...is this the type of bowl sponge you mean?
Picasa Web Albums - Albie - Caribbean Exp...

It will probably work on any sponge, but your picture doesn't look quite like the bowl sponge I'm talking about. The one I'm thinking of doesn't have such a wide opening for its chimney and the walls are thicker.---I wish I had a pict. to show you.

The 'String of Pearls' (Ostracods) were the most spectacular thing I've ever seen in my life.
There are truly no words to describe it.
We were in Roatan Dec 26, there was a clear sky and the moon was out, actually just 3 days past full I think. We were at Mandy's Eel Garden, in approx 20', kneeling on the sand.
The little flashing spiral of lights was the most awe-inspiring thing. It is impossible to describe and even more difficult to find info. on the web.
As far as your eyes can see, small, dancing lights. In 3D.
Our DM, Lindy, described it in our briefing as being in outer space. That by no means does it justice, but comes as close as any explanation.
Magical.
Almost had to clear my mask from crying.

I know Lindy!! How wonderful you had this experience...no one who ever sees this forgets it. I'm still curious to know where else it exists in the world...

Good tips, Polpessa.
I also enjoy the number and variety of cardinalfish, that you seldom see during the daytime. Don't know why I like them so much.

I just did a wonderfull night dive last friday, it was awsom, we saw an octopus, its amazing to see this and how many times he changes colors, just wonderfull, also, it was so cool to watch green moreys wondering arround and not just hiding in the reef. Crabs, lobsters, and many many more fish we enjoy. One very important thing is who are you going with, myself, as a dorky diver and not being in the reef everyday i didnt have the chance to discover many things, but, i was diving with this fantastic italian chic, her name is Anna Paola Colombo, and she is so wonderfull gide, she was just showing us all kind of things (things that i didnt saw), she was just the best, very atentive and nice, so, i think having a guide like her it really makes the difference. If any of you guys are arround look for her to o the best night dive ever here in Playa del Carmen, you can reach her at Diving in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya - Home Cheers to all of you in your next night dive!!
